Connecting the Dots

“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.” - Steve Jobs

We were having coffee during office break. While talking about my history with the company, I casually mentioned about the story of our company factory closure, the empowerment programme and how I accidentally became a part-time social entrepreneur. Vu, on the other hand, was born in an indigenous village with over 300 years' history but spent most of his life in UK. He relocated to Hong Kong a few years ago and is working diligently as a garment designer in our company.

It was a casual conversation and I was not expecting anything. To my surprise, he told me about his aspirations as a fashion designer and that he was interested in working with small workshops to bring his design ideas to life. That conversation soon became sketches, drawings, samples, websites and social media .

This is the model of Sew Much Talent. We aim to be a small social business that connects the dots between talent, skills and innovations, and to play a role in revitalizing the “Made in Hong Kong” label. We want to be a platform incubating a new generation of fashion designers using innovative business solutions, creating meaningful job opportunities for displaced skillful workers, and to nurture the next generation of artisan sewers. #TrustTheDots #VuDescent #IncubatingDesigners
