Why social business? What social problems do I want to address? Why do social businesses fail and what is my learning?

I guess every social entrepreneur has a kind of lovestruck story. Destiny found them and showed them a social problem which touched their heart and soul and they coincidentally had an innovative idea for a solution, and there goes a journey to the deep end...

In my case, it was company factory closure in Hong Kong, an empowerment programme which I ran for a large group of sewing ladies and subsequently close friendship with some of these ladies which, enabled me to see their passion and potentials. Later, I was connected with more and more young people who told me that there are very limited avenues available to fashion design graduates to develop their design and entrepreneurial potentials. The force of one person may be very limited, but the force of a group of talented and passionate people from different fields coming together became an unstoppable momentum. A few more months passed, coffee chats became meetings and became products ready to be launched. The world has also become a very different market place by now. E-commerce and social media have become cheap and user-friendly. I look forward to seeing the development of this business re-launch within the social innovation space. #SewMuchTalent #SocialInnovation #VuDescent
